Horned-head-shaped mbwoongitwool (Kuba) - EO.0.0.35025
1st quarter of the 20th century. Tool wood powder (Pterocarpus) and sandy clay. RD Congo. Registered in 1933. Collected by L. Achten (1920s).
This atypical mbwoongitwool possibly refers to Kuba myths, such as the one about a prominent man (a nyimshoong) whose wife gave birth to a billy goat. The story goes that, ever since this astonishing incident, the nyimshoong wore a goatskin hat.
